Description
This 3.5-hour course is a prerequisite for all other sonography courses offered through Integrative Reproductive Care. It is an in-person course and will blend theoretical and hands-on learning techniques. No prior ultrasound experience is necessary.
(Sonography Canada, n.d.) defines diagnostic ultrasound as a medical investigation which uses high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to assess organs, tissues, and blood flow inside the body and produce images. Ultrasound, when used appropriately, is considered to be a safe and relatively inexpensive imaging tool that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. This course will introduce health practitioners to the fundamentals of ultrasound imaging and the physical principles of its production.
IRC is excited to provide this workshop to integrate theory to practice.
This course aims to set the foundation for health practitioners to understand the complexity of sonography as a clinical tool and begin to build the requisite knowledge used in further sonography-specific courses offered through IRC Inc.
At the end of this fundamental & interactive workshop, learners will be able to accurately select the ultrasound transducer best suited for specific imaging applications, describe sonographic image orientation, and evaluate and analyze image quality for basic technical parameter adjustments required for improved sonographic assessment of anatomical structures. The physical principles of gray-scale ultrasound production will be the main focus, and Doppler imaging will be introduced. Attendees will walk away with the essential skills necessary to safely implement ultrasound imaging into clinical practice.
The goal of this course is to set the foundation for health practitioners to understand the complexity of sonography as a clinical tool and begin to build requisite knowledge used in further sonography-specific courses offered through IRC Inc.
